There were many highlights at last week’s
Paris Motor Show press day, and thankfully most were production realities.
Hand-built flights of fancy ‘pointing the way to a new design language’ have
their place, but don’t get customers into showrooms. That’s what the industry
needs. I don’t think there’s much doubt the Jaguar F-Type is going to do that.
Fantastic inside and out, it was undoubtedly one of the stars. I also very much
liked the Vauxhall Adam. It’s pictured above with just some of the huge variety
of interchangeable parts that bosses say will take personalisation to a new
level. With all the steering wheels, mirrors, front grille centres, alloys,
etc, someone with a calculator has worked out there are more than one million
different variations of the car. Still think it’s a silly name, though.
