Two
examples of the practicality of the Ford B-MAX in the space of about 30
seconds. Heading into town for some Saturday morning shopping, empty bays were
already at a premium. After failing miserably at our regular choices I tried
the ‘low CO2’ site. It’s very close to the shops, cheaper to park for longer…
and, as luck would have it, there was a single space left. It’s for cars with
annual road tax of £35 or less, and as the B-MAX’s 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine
has emissions of only 119g/km, that bay had my name on it. Space was tight
because a white Ford Transit van was in the one next door. He’d clearly not
read the signs about who could park there, and failing to spot every other
patron was a smaller car, he’d got a yellow and black sticky envelope under the
wiper for his trouble. I backed in, then struggled to exit the car because of
the lack of space. No such problem for the kids in the back, who had the convenience
of the sliding doors!
